Insect Control

There are many insects that can negatively affect a tree's health. When threshold levels are exceeded, controls may be necessary. You can choose from traditional and organic insect control methods.

Some of the more common pests are:

Hemlock Woolly Adelgid - This invasive aphid -like insect will likely spread throughout the canopy of the Hemlock tree, causing a slow and steady decline. If detected early, it is an easy pest to control, with several treatment options available.

Wintermonth caterpillars - With no natural predators, these voracious leaf eaters can quickly defoliate even the largest of shade trees, leaving them very stressed. Properly timed treatments can limit the damage to your favorite trees.

Scale Insects - There are several species of scales, some more damaging than others. Some can cause a rapid decline of the host plant. There are several ways to treat these insects, with foliar treatments or systemic injections.

Ticks - Although not a threat to your trees and shrubs, these arachnids pose a threat to your pets and human health by spreading lyme disease. If you live in an area prone to ticks, we can suggest a program to help keep them away.

Mosquitos - Sometimes just a nuisance, but also a carrier of potentially deadly viruses such as West Nile Virus and Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE). Treatments can be performed for season long control, while some clients choose to have a treatment performed before an outdoor event.
